Žižek says that we need a different kind of dictator. This is a crazy "solution" to the current tide of authoritarianism-populism. Ideologues that follow, promote, and impose doctrines of race essentialism and equity as they shun and cancel scientists and other critics of their doctrines, share an either/or, absolutist, ideological & authoritarian way of thinking with Christian nationalists. As woke ideological thinkers disdain freethought and classical liberalism, they are authoritarians, not liberals. I suggest that Žižek read John Dewey on democracy. For those interested in the psychology of ideological thinkers, I recommend Leor Zmigrod's new book, "The Ideological Brain: The Radical Science of Flexible Thinking."

As a sort of "required reading" regarding what you say about 1968, Slavoj – and I agree with – one should be advised to watch "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" by Tarantino. (And most of the rest of Tarantino). Agree?🙂

Amlo in Mexico is a well example of what the left need in the world

@Uncle_Jester April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Narcs and their projections…

@Viciousotk1 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

What we need is a left that doesnt turn right when in power. And also… we need some billonarie tears. Here in argentina they are cutting medicine that relieves pain from medical treatment of old people, so they are scared to do treatment. So, if we have poor people tears right now, we can have some billonaire tears. I am sick of thinking something that benefit both partys.

Doesn’t live like a communist, he lives like an entitled billionaire

@mohg7793 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

What happened? Zizek's audio in this video is exceptionally clear!

@rozalialuks6583 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

IF… he could calm down, then we could reflect on his thoughts in a more effective way.

@blind8686 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Please, let’s not have a left version of trump. It’s a super stupid idea.

@darmaw22 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Slavoj has been playing an infinite language game to prevent the real from happening. It is a symptom of the discredited and incapacitated (perhaps, castrated) left.

@MontagueHarpocrates-u3g April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Wokism = Elites trying to look morally superior in order to maintain their power, without any real improvement for disadvantaged people

@NoPrivateProperty April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Zizek has never given advice to any effect, whereas LUIGI leads by example. You can't protest fascists out of power.

@zardoz7900 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

These questions are awful. Highschool level.

@shirleymarchand5800 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Clearly the FELON PRESIDENT is an unscrupulous person

@Djordj69 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

The populist right reflect the truth of our degenerate culture. We the left has to be resposible , they are not , it is too difficult for these people

@Djordj69 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

What Trump said about the entrtainment indusrty is true.

@Djordj69 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Zezick at his best..Real change comes from below.. Not from mis educated so called intellectuals.

@ON-THE-FIELD April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

This guy should be in a special house for incoherent people!!

@Djordj69 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Their. was a kind of revolution in 68 ,a revolution in capatilism, which as marx said is very revolutionary. Marx was aware of the destruction of the natural and human environment in capatalism.

"Meloni, Meloni, you so full of baloney! But, I prefer mortadella anyway…"
It's too bad that she couldn't make a deal. "Bene, devo dirlo a tutti voi" that many New World voyagers admire her and believe that she is in fact a nice lady.

When this little first generation Italian-American named Giuseppi Giancarlo Vivaldi Iafrate visited one of the Roman hill towns some years ago, "la bella donna" was perusing the confectionary display at a local gelato shop. Being from the USA, I was unsure how to use the Italian lira to pay for "i dolci", but sweet Georgiana gladly came to my aid. Plus, as Italians are known for being kind to children, she offered to "chip in" and buy my 2 scoops of gelato! What's the scoop on that, popolo? How cool is that? I kindly refused and was able to tell her in my limited Italian that I was working as a fast-paced/adderall riddled entrepreneur in the USA. She was surprised and didn't understand me very well due to my broken Italian which was riddled with grammatical errors and obvious difficulties concerning the masculine/feminine articles. We just don't have those linguistic features in American! But anywho, I went on to tell her that I was a budding entrepreneur and that I had dreams about opening up a Domino's pizza in a middle-class enclave near Albany, NY. As many of you know, Domino's is pretty low quality/milquetoast stuff, in fact, many would even venture to say that the "cucina" wouldn't even pass muster for a medieval "contadino/contadina." But anyway, I told your lovely Georgiana that I had planned to make many improvements and upgrades to that Dominos in upstate New York. I would be bringing in the finest ingredients and food-stuff from Italy. However, at the same time, I would be keeping the standard Americanized pizzas, calzones and shitty salads made with 2,000 mile Central Valley iceberg lettuce so as not to alienate the natives/regular customers. I told lovely Georgiana that only the best of the best would be put on my "tavolo" for the newcomers to the capital region-delicious antipasti such as but not limited to; panzanella made with tomatoes grown at the base of Mt. Vesuvius, delectable artichokes with bottarga, and a wonderful insalata di tonno. The first course would consist of-a wonderful potato gnocchi sauteed in brown butter and sage, or even a mouthwatering risotto alla Milanese. How about the second course? A fragrant polpo alla griglia and certainly to tone down the tastebuds a bit-a caprese salad. And for the finale-a filet of branzino cooked simply on the wood over in the alley out back or for the New World big eaters-a heavy helping of Sunday Gravy with polpetti and braciole done Nonna style! Whew!

So, the astute and erudite Georgiana graciously listened to my entrepreneurial spiel but as many of us know, we Americans are a bit unaccustomed to Western European dining formalities and so, like a gently used American made snow cone maker that has gone haywire and has a faulty ice tray, well, lets just say events turned for the worse and the once even-keeled Georgiana turned hot like an Ooni pizza oven that has been cranked up to 2,000 degrees! She yelled and she cursed and called me "stronzo" and "culo"…

Finally, I left "Bel Paese" downtrodden and dejected. At present, in my down time, I play the New York power balls state lottery thrice weekly, hoping that one day that my big ship will come in!

Buona Pasqua a tutti!

@r.lewisblake7793 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

No. We don’t need or want a “Trump of the left”. How about an intelligent, sincere, empathetic and compassionate, yet eloquent and learned young politician. He had better be well traveled also. And, of course, angle to win elections. Not really much to ask for.

@FerdinandAugustinus-j6t April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Two words: Boom Boom!

@sirsheroes April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Poor Zizek, The whole world desperately wants answers about what and why Trump is doing what he's doing. The world is severely lacking any intellectuals and heightened thinkers, enlightening and scholarly practitioners so they are going to keep pulling the chains and strings of Slavoj. [Slavoj is very very smart, it's not a knock on him, just feel as tho he really hates to be used as a political pundit puppet for the dumb masses.] I could be wrong. But his niche isn't economics and Tarrifs.

@SeamusMcFitz-jz9if April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

Every single piece of technology that you use right now everyday was invented in America. A free-market captialist system. That's not a coincidence.

@cheryl-annsporri3175 April 20, 2025 - 4:24 pm

I love him… even with all of his faults.
