CLEAR CASE OF SELF DEFENSE:

EVERYONE has had the experience of being caught in the rain, and you immediately sought shelter under property you did not own. This is what happened with Karmelo. He sought shelter from the rain. He was minding his own business. Austin and his brother were not hired be security guards. They approached Karmelo! Instead of taking the opportunity to meet a new friend, they chose a different route. Instead of being normal good-hearted people and say, "Hey, it's raining, you're trying to get out of the rain, that's cool." They chose to be hostile to Karmelo and ultimately, be physical.

According to Texas State Law, Karmelo was under no obligation to walk away. He had every right to "STAND HIS GROUND" in a "Stand Your Ground" State and defend himself from TWO PEOPLE who approached him in a hostile manner, even if it meant raising the level of violence being used against him to deadly force. Austin had a choice. He and his brother chose to be bullies. They approached Karmelo and tried to bully him. Austin placed hands on Karmelo and lost the fight! What was Karmelo supposed to do? Let two BIG GUYS beat him to death? I don't think so.

If the "STAND YOUR GROUND LAW" was good enough for George Zimmerman who actually stalked Trayvon Martin, picked a fight, and then raised the level of violence being used against him by introducing a gun into a one-on-one fist fight, then the "STAND YOUR GROUND LAW" should work for Karmelo Anthony.

In a stand your ground state, the law says that you do not have to retreat once you are attacked and that you can use whatever force you deem is necessary, IF you are attacked first and you belief that the attack could have lead to great bodily harm or death.
