Sadly, indigenous communities always get hit badly, sometimes worse. However, this time we'll all lose.

@JackLopez-e9k April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Just move. HELLO?

@OvertlyMisinformed April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Question, whom kept those millions? Just saying because that village doesn’t look wit costed all of that money to build

@Diomides-Europe April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

The e-book SIBERIA A.D. 2038 deals with another scenario on that.

@veronikalynn5084 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Wow, this was wonderfully written and directed. Thanks to everybody involved and featured for getting this story out here.

I doubt very many people outside of Alaska have any clue how close these histories still are. Only a generation away.

A beautiful culture.

And very upsetting that throughout our decade plus foray into “DEI” that there isn’t anyone at the federal or state level that’s included it in their definition of inclusion.

Glad that communities are working together though. Hope that this gets the attention of someone in the government or who otherwise has the means to help as much as possible. Best wishes to everybody✌🏻🖤

💔 How heartbreaking?! I pray for smooth transition to safety for all peoples affected. And my blessing is this, “May your journey bring much peace, joy & happiness to everlasting generations!” ❤️‍🩹

Perhaps use a less rotund image if you wish to discuss "vanishing". Only vanishing there is food.

@napalmholocaust9093 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

The summary talking about what we're looking at; "this is a hill, this is a house", is 💩
👎

We must listen to our elders, especially those who know the land. Thank you for this reminder.

@Stephanie-vn6ir April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

30 Years! They are so full of it That's some serious corruption going on there!

@gtaangelrose1977 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

More whining

@Jerry-k3q8m April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

I don't know but it seems the younger generations would continually move away. Few people wanna live in a place like that. Also climate change is coming, the climate has ALWAYS changed on earth.

@cain2548 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Idiots and propaganda.

@eduardonordelo6489 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Well. Been part of the US brings all that. DESTRUCTION.means be part of the EVEL. ALASKA AS HAWAI ARE VICTIMS OF THE EVEL USA.

@astridicarus April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

It's time to plant trees. That's the simplest answer. The climate is getting warmer, the tree roots hold the soil together. There are many trees that will grow in that region now that it's warming. It might not stop the onset entirely but i can't imagine willow trees especially not helping hold the ground together. Permafrost can be replaced by tree roots.

All of Indian Country must see this video and be prepared for thr future

@Frank-xt3of April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Instead of spending millions on that joke of a sea wall they should have given that money to people to help relocate. If you don’t want to relocate then that’s on you. Don’t expect help when your place is gone or flooded. You were warned.

@Ms.Laterholmes April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

This is heartbreaking. Again, here is the American government old, white, crusty man telling the natives that they have to not only move but now they have to start speaking English and forget everything about their heritage. That’s just wrong.

@JPTV3000 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

You could have picked a better thumbnail.

@puravida5683 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Watching from Costa Rica. Very informative! Thank you for making the world aware, of the affects on Indigenous Natives.

@dtmack2025 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Great information, so often we do not hear about events in Alaska except for oil issues. The relocation process has to be emotionally exhaustive.

@geneseeboy5138 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Home is where you find it.

@dkattkatt7633 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

A powerful story with so many warnings and lessons for every human on this planet. These people in "Hooper's Bay" have treated their homeland with the utmost care and respect, living off the land for many/most needs. They unlike myself and most Americans are not corporate dependent ultra-consumers. That has not protected them from melting seas, glaciers, rising sea level destroying their homes and lifeways. Their ancestors warned of this for half a century, and it has arrived. Their plans to move to higher ground on their lands deserves assistance and support from all of us and especially our federal govt. Guess who just removed Fema and any assistance? trump, the most toxic, ignorant, thief of our democracy and existence. Heart-breaking story. Sen Lisa Murkowski, what are you doing for these most amazing Alaskan indigenous peoples?

@71chevy April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Snow machine lol 😂

@bmebri1 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Very sad. It's a shame it can decades to move while the political climate can change within 4 years.

@young8735 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

6.5 billion

@young8735 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Human beings will disappear on this earth.
Earth is 6 5 billion years old( ?), she has her own agenda.
many species went extinction.
Human beings are not exception.
I believe we don't know anything.

Be happy every moment!
Life is just so fragile.

@msure3367 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Even in interior Alaska you can feel and see climate change😩

@yodamane4031 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Flooding is normal, building structures right next to the sea isn't. Problem solved.

@J-Realist1349 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Powerful and tragic. I sincerely hope these people and their families can continue to live in the places they call home for generations to come. The government really needs to put people first with their funds..

@GrandmaBev64 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

I lived in Fairbanks in the 80s, and the permafrost was melting so severely that homes and foundations were sliding, causing people to be relocated. Whole villages were being moved even back then. I know it's only gotten worse. I love Alaska ❤️, The people there were so awesome. I always wanted to go back. I was the only female to ever work at the Fairbanks city dump. Lol

@ak9989 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

😂😂what do you expect? One it's the Bering Sea, known for bad storms. It's the Artic! Oh and before you were not in settled villages. It's gonna happen naturally. Get over it or move.

@unlistedandtwisted April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm

Thank you for reporting on this subject. I love someone very much who just moved to Alaska. While they are closer inland, I worry for them and their dog. Alaskan Native populations deserve far more funding, help and assistance from the Federal Gov't (who not only stole their land and tried to decimate their culture, but who have stood by and done NOTHING for decades… we were warned. They. Did. NOTHING to help). God bless these communities and let us all remember to be more mindful of the way we treat our planet. We only have one. I am not trying to go colonize Mars….

@jamesray3920 April 26, 2025 - 1:35 pm
