There are quotas now and anytime you give cops/soldiers a quota they will arrest whomever they see walking around

@marlenecesarotti8468 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

how can he say many of these people have done nothing what.a wacko …..

@Galworld761 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

The reason this works in El Salvador is because the gangs did not infiltrate the government. In Honduras, the gangs admitted that they have their own places in high government posts. I don’t disagree with the approach. People were desperate. But, Asian countries take a similar approach while processing the innocent out. You can do two things at once. It is not for economic growth to have innocent folks incarcerated.

Al Jazeera spent 5 mins on the 90% approval rate and the good side, and 20 mins on the negative side. Meanwhile 90% of El Salvador will tell you they are happy and this was necessary. What an eerie feeling that when looking up this topic you find more hit pieces on Bukele than praise, seriously makes you think these media outlets are in the pockets of the cartel as well, pretty scary…….

@realproperty1012 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

BEST President El Salvador has ever had stop complaining!!

@mauriciomunozortiz April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

@benjaminmnn April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

I always thought Al-Jazeera to be a propaganda outlet with a relatively decent outfit. But this biased and misrepresented coverage completely proves the point, removing even the decent outfit i thought they had.

@aketoassumi4356 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

The president himself might end up in cecot some day if he doesn't right the wrongs that has been done to honest innocent citizens.

@miguelpena4147 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

America arrest innocent people every day

@1.masterpiece April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

The world need more Nayib Bukeles ❤

@mae88b.16 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

I empathize the el Salvadorian the relief they feel after a good leader appointed and did an amazing job. This is the same thing happened in Philippines when our president duterte curbed the drugs. He became international sensation, human rights intervened and after long years he was accused of mass killings and detained in Hague, netherland. I hope this will not happen to president Bukele!

@brushandshovel6512 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

Typical woke journalism. Go interview the families of the raped and murdered!!

@jacksonsettles7490 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

If The cop that slammed that inmate did here in the us there would be protests and riots just because of that

@jamesdrake8058 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

How easy is it to brain wash the minds of young "kids"? They now will live the rest of their lives on a metal cookie tray without mattress. After they wake up, they do what they are suppose to do that is: Keep quiet and stare at the walls.

@AdityaThakur-qu6ss April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

It is easy to talk about "trials", "human rights" when one lives in developed countries like the USA or Europe. El salvador is doing everything right, yes few innocent people became victims, but what about the thousands of gang members who have been arrested? What about the innocent people who were killed by these gang members? Is there any other viable option except sounding stupidly intellectual?

@shanebaker3404 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

I'm quite sure they check for Gang tattoos so that nothing is………….something.

@hashimarman4381 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

@JayZombie1216 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

Ah, so i see liberals arent just a problem in America, but they ruin literally everything they touch.

@mohsaniqbal1346 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

We need to understand that when a government takes action on such a scale,it's normal to make mistakes and have some innocent people in jail as well. In the bigger picture, they almost clean the country from terrorism and gangsters. I really admire the president for taking such a huge step.

@Weasel1432 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

Salvador still safer than the US

@martinbedoya5486 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

@Doberman_Rockyy April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

Gang tattoos or criminal record…sounds very reasonable actually. No human rights broken with that statement. Keep up the good work El Salvador 👏🏼👏🏼

@KungLao-b5v April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

I'm 567lbs from California gender fluid human rights commentator. I believe all drugs should be legal and all police should be defunded. Look at San Francisco, it is safe, clean and full of jobs.

@humptydumpty8894 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

Al Jazeera is always supporting criminals and terrorists ❤

@txmade4371 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm

@richardr5393 April 8, 2025 - 3:52 pm
