Blunt for PM
That lot in the commons aren't normal people they are lawyers
The Duke of Lancaster should have sent his division
No every one should be involved in government
Normal people governing their local communities instead of concentrating land and power in the hands of corporate, aristocratic and bureaucratic elites? One might call that ideal distributism – and democracy would likewise be a proper label
We need to get the 0.1% and private equity out of the sectors to protect it from becoming nothing more than an inflated engine for nothing more than avoiding tax
Legitimate industry representation beats corruption
Scientist – Chris Whitty. Hundreds of thousands died unnecessary because of this scientist!!
The aristocracy are the problem.
Ofcourse!
Oli, I know you love your country but it doesn’t seem to reciprocate. If I’m not mistaken, American farmers get over 40p per Liter. Why don’t you come to Pennsylvania or Ohio, as many Brits before you have? Our young farmers sometimes wear mullets, if you were worried about that.
The more large farms and estates reduce production to save the environment, the better for small farmers to produce more.
Why does everything have to be political now? Politicians are a disease. Just say no to government.
Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were major landowning farmers, but they actually farmed. I think in the U.S., our problems began when career politicians began to crowd out the sensible agrarian types. We now have a quasi aristocracy like you guys. Townies ruin everything good and wholesome in the world.
I'm sorry but Farmers have fucked themselves. They voted for Brexit and they deserve everything they get
Lovely film. Made in 1943. A time at which German farmers were probably not worrying too much about who was going to run for office at the next election.
How to fix British farming: You recently mentioned that your family farm got out of the dairy business when asked to accept a price of £0.19 per litre of milk. The average price of a litre of milk in British supermarkets is today almost £1.20. Certainly the supermarket needs to make a profit. And there are costs involved in transporting, processing, and packaging milk. But you cannot expect a farmer to produce milk for £0.19 per litre. A high-yielding diary cow might produce about 12,000 litres of milk over an entire lactation. Yielding about £2400 per year in revenue for the farmer. You simply cannot keep a large animal like a cow for £2400 per year. You need grassland, and sheds and barns. You need silage and other food supplements. You need veterinary services. You need milking equipment and you need a supply of water. And probably dozens of other costs.
If the British consumer has to see the retail price of milk go up by an extra ten pence to make dairy farming in this country sustainable, and healthy, and safe, and profitable enough – then I think most people would support that. We would not support paying an extra ten pence if it goes into the pockets of large retailers and processors.
Carry this out through all sorts of other British agricultural products, and you see both the problem, and the solution, for British farming.
Post war consensus and the welfare state was and is the best thing to ever happen to this country. And far to few to defend them.
Keynes and co were genuinely genius. Unlike todays modern economy experts who all support the the freak(typo?) market and neoliberalism.
The problem starts with councils , people tactically voting rather than voting for the best candidates. There was no mention of which party these candidates were affiliated with. If local people voted in good people with integrity , we would have a much better country from the ground up.
Normal people need to run the country , people who understand and listen to what is happening.
I love how the 'farmer' running for Council is named "Mr. Blunt", instead of something like "Mr. Nuanced Public-Discourse". 😂
In our local area we have a man who has a farm the biggest polluter and destroyer of the environment. Would anyone want him in charge?
Good Luck! Here in the USA we're enjoying a 'legal coup' perpetrated and funded by crypto-fascists bent on instituting a futuristic 'Techno-Authoritarian Oligarchy'.
No worries though, all we have to do is convince a small number of the idiots who voted for them to re-enter reality and develop functioning mental faculties!
It's a piece of cake!🙄😑🤬
